Staffing Update
Yesterday, we said goodbye to Miss Cottrill who last year taught in Reception and since September has continued to teach one day a week in Years 2 and 3. We would like to thank her for all her hard work during her time at Thorpe and wish her all the best for the future.
We also say goodbye to Miss Bottomley who has been on placement here in Year 1 since Christmas. We wish her all the best as she embarks on her teaching career.

Coffee Morning
Yesterday our school council organised a coffee morning for local businesses and community groups to say thank you for supporting the school with various events and fundraising activities. They had baked some biscuits and flapjack with our cook, Miss Brooke. They did a fantastic job waiting on and chatting to our visitors. Well done to them all!
World Book Day
We will once again be celebrating World Book Day on the 5th March. This year our theme will be traditional tales. Your child can come to school dressed as a character from a traditional tale or a character from their favourite book.
Uniform
Please can we remind you of the following:
For safety reasons, the only jewellery allowed in school is stud earrings. Requests for exceptions may be made for religious reasons.
All piercings should be taped over or removed prior to any physical activity and removed before swimming lessons by the pupil.
Parents are also reminded to remove nail varnish from their children’s fingernails before arriving at school.
Children with long hair need to tie their hair back, and extreme hairstyles, shaving patterns and colouring are not part of our uniform policy.
FOTPS
We will be sending a letter home regarding the Easter Raffle and Mother’s Day shop after half-term.
Edible Playgrounds
Following a successful grant application, we will be having our garden and part of the playground transformed by the charity Trees for Cities ‘Edible Playgrounds’ programme during the half term holiday. Having worked with a designer over recent months, they will create a bespoke outdoor classroom area with raised beds to grow plants and vegetables. It is an exciting opportunity which will enable us to continue to develop our curriculum and outdoor learning opportunities. Once the work has been completed, we will then be supported for a year, receiving advice and training. When we have completed the initial planting stage, we will invite parents/carers to come and see the transformation.
