We will be selling poppies and merchandise in school from Monday 4th of November. You can buy from the school office either at play time or before and after school.
Today we say goodbye to Mrs Preston who is retiring from her post as teaching assistant. Mrs Preston has been at Thorpe for 15 years and has worked both in Key Stage 1 and 2 as well as running the Haven club at lunchtimes. We would like to thank her for all her hard work over the years and wish her all the best for the future.
We welcome Miss Gimblett back following her maternity leave. She will be teaching in Year 1 on Wednesday afternoon, Thursdays and Fridays. Mrs Wood will continue to teach Year 1 Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings.
Miss Cottrill will continue to work at Thorpe on a Thursday in Year 3 and Key stage 1.
Thank-you again for your kind donations of Harvest gifts which will be delivered to residents in Idle as well as to the local Food Bank.
It was lovely to see so many families join us at our Harvest service in church on Tuesday. If you were unable to come, there are some photos on our Twitter page. We will be back at Holy trinity church on Thursday 12th December for our Christmas service.
These will take place on Tuesday 12th November for those children who have had a form completed by parents/carers.
This half-term has gone very quickly and the school, has as ever, been very busy. All the children have settled well into their new year groups and we are especially proud of how well our new Reception children have settled at Thorpe.
Thank-you for attending the parent consultation meetings and we hope you found these useful. If you have still not had a meeting, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
Another busy half-term after the holidays will see a Geography day, Children in Need day, the Friends of Thorpe Disco, a visit from the book People’s Book bus, Year 5 and Year 6’s class assemblies, the friends of Thorpe Christmas Fair, and other Christmas celebrations!
We wish you all an enjoyable half term break. School will re-open on Monday 4th November.
