End of term
Where has the time gone?! It has been another busy, enjoyable and eventful year and I have no doubt that next year will be similar.
We should take some time to say goodbye to our Year 6 children who are moving onto new schools, new challenges and exciting opportunities. We hope that they will continue to work hard, enjoy learning and challenge themselves to be the best that they can be. Good luck to each and every one of them!
I am very proud of Thorpe’s staff team and would like to thank them all for their hard work and commitment this year.
Thank-you also to all our families for your continued support and the work that you do at home with your children.
Thank-you to Friends of Thorpe for their continued fundraising efforts and for the much needed and appreciated end of term ice-cream treats!
Enjoy the summer break and we look forward to seeing you at the start of the new term, on Wednesday 4th September.
We can now let you know that our recent Ofsted Inspection went very well with the outcome that the school continues to be good.
The report will be published on the Ofsted website in 5 working days.
We have said goodbye this week to Mr Sharp and Mrs Eldred. We would like to thank them for their hard work and support over the years and wish them all the best for the future.
We also wish Mrs Roundhill who leaves us as a lunchtime supervisor today, all the best. Thank-you to her for all she has done during her time in this role.
Last year the logo on our uniform changed and became available at Henry Smiths ready for September 2018. We said there would be a transition period between the old and new logos and the jade uniform being phased out. We appreciate that some families may have navy cardigans/jumpers/polo shirts with the old logo on and are happy for this to continue next year.
However from September 2019 the uniform will not include jade polos, jumpers or cardigans.
White polos and shirts are not part of our uniform.
Please can we remind you that trainers with white soles & logos are not part of our uniform and if worn, need to be plain black.
The uniform will then be as follows:
- Navy jumper/cardigan (with logo)
- Navy polo shirt ( with or without logo)
- Navy / black trousers
- Navy/black skirt or pinafore dress
- Black shoes /plain black trainers
- Black/navy/grey/white socks or tights
- Blue gingham check dress/black/navy tailored shorts
Children have brought increasingly large bags to school which have caused problems with the limited cloakroom space we have.
From September only Years 5 and 6 can bring school bags along with PE bags.
Years 3 and 4 will need to have a book bag which can be kept in classroom drawers. The only items they will then put in the cloakroom will be coats and PE kits.
As part of our aim to further improve attendance, we have teamed up with Mama’s Pizza takeaway restaurant in Idle.
Starting this term, every child who has 100% attendance for the summer term will receive a £10 voucher to spend at Mama’s Pizza. This term 72 children have achieved this – well done everyone!
This attendance reward will be done each term so that everyone has a chance.
Thank-you to Mama’s Pizza for their generosity and support.
